The climate crisis is coming to a head. Extreme weather events such as floods and droughts are not only keeping Austria on its toes, but countries all over the world. At the same time, climate protection is becoming increasingly polarized. Other crises such as wars, inflation or attacks on democracy are moving into focus. Greenpeace has been campaigning for climate and environmental protection for decades, regardless of the issue. Both internationally, for example at world climate conferences, but also at national level, the environmental protection organization calls for consistent climate policy.
What mission does the environmental protection organization pursue?
What communication tools does Greenpeace have in its repertoire?
Jasmin Duregger provides information on this and explains how Greenpeace’s campaign work in Central and Eastern Europe works using two examples.
About the Speaker:
Jasmin Duregger is a climate and energy expert at Greenpeace in Central and Eastern Europe. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Management at FHWien der WKW. Duregger then worked in the advertising industry for several years. After completing a part-time master’s degree in environmental and sustainability management at the FH Krems, she switched to the NGO sector. She has been working as an expert at Greenpeace for around five years, where she is in charge of campaigns in the areas of climate protection and energy transition. In this role, she also regularly attends international conferences as an NGO observer, such as the recent climate conference in Azerbaijan in fall 2024.
