Urban Future Talks: ‘10 years of Seestadt – an Update’

November 12, 2024 | 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Room B504 (FHWien der WKW)

Seestadt Aspern is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a populated district, and we cordially invite you to celebrate this anniversary with us!

Under the title ‘10 years of Seestadt – an Update’, we will look at the development of this ambitious project and discuss what lessons can be learnt for future urban planning. The occasion for the panel discussion is the publication – ‘Seestadt Aspern – A district in the making’, the publication of the 2022 urbanization monitoring, as well as the interim report EVA.

10 years of Seestadt

Seestadt Aspern was planned as a multifunctional district for 20,000 residents with 20,000 jobs as part of a PPP (public-private partnership) model. Since the first residents moved in in autumn 2014, Seestadt has developed into a lively district.

  • But what is it really like to live there?
  • What challenges and opportunities has this flagship urban development project thrown up?
  • How can what has been achieved be transferred to future urban development projects?

At this specialist event, we will reflect on the concept and everyday life in the Seestadt. Discuss with experts which questions Seestadt has answered for the challenges of modern housing and urban planning and which construction sites are still open.

Our panellists:

Cornelia Djabala Cornelia Dlabaja has been involved in researching the Seestadt since 2014 and has overseen colonization monitoring since 2015.
