Following the theme “Styria – where the sun rises with delight”, 23 Tourism & Hospitality Management students from the 2nd semester set out for a trip, visiting South-Styria and Graz, the “capital of delight”. According to the slogan, this two-day excursion, organised by the students, focused on delight and Styrian-cuisine.
Day 1:
The first day started with a visit to the oil mill Fandler. After an interesting presentation, a tour through the factory and a tasting of excellent and high quality oils, the students continued their trip to the Zotter chocolate factory. Having arrived at the “chocolate-paradise” the students had the chance to taste over 300 different and fair traded chocolate creations, for instance the “Fish head – coconut-chocolate”. After a lot of chocolate, the students moved on to the next stop – the winery Hack-Gebell, located in Gamlitz. The students were shown the wine cellar and received useful information on wine making. A wine tasting and a delicious “Brettljausn” were included in the program as well. Later on the students went to Graz, the “capital of delight”, where they spent a nice evening.
Day 2:
Having enjoyed an extensive breakfast at the hotel “3 Raben”, the students visited the system catering restaurant “Zu den 3 goldenen Kugeln”. After an informative presentation and a hearty lunch, the students returned to the hotel, where Mr. Hardt-Stermayr, manager of “Graz Tourism” introduced their company and its USPs. In the evening, the students returned to Vienna.
In a nutshell – it was a sunny, exciting and funny trip, with lots of culinary treats in one of the most beautiful regions in Austria – where the sun rises with delight.
