How do you organize a major event with 80,000 visitors? Students of the Bachelor’s degree program in Tourism Management found out at the beginning of October. They were allowed to look behind the scenes at Austria’s largest video games fair.
As part of the ‘Event & Congress Design’ specialization, lecturer Tarek Sharif organized a very special excursion just a few days before the start of the event. This allowed the students to experience first-hand how such a large event with around 80,000 visitors is planned and realized. From the selection of exhibitors to the organization of the various gaming areas – it was very interesting to see how much work and attention to detail is put into Game City.
In the center of the action
The variety of games and activities on offer at Game City was also particularly impressive. There is something for everyone – from retro games to the latest virtual reality experiences. One highlight is certainly the cosplay parade, which presented the planning team with yet another new challenge.
A big thank you to Tarek Sharif and his team from mice&men for giving our students this unique look behind the scenes.
