In September, students of the Bachelor’s program in Tourism & Hospitality Management had the opportunity to take a very special look behind the scenes. After a break of three years, the GAME City took place again in the Vienna City Hall.
As part of the specialization “Event and Congress Management”, lecturer Tarek Sharif organized a very special excursion. The Game City is organized by Wien Extra, but Tarek Sharif and his company mice&men are the executing agency of the event! This meant an exclusive look behind the scenes for the students at Austria’s largest video game fair.
Experience and tips directly from practice
This allowed them to experience first-hand how such a large event with around 70,000 visitors is planned and implemented. From the selection of exhibitors to the organization of the various gaming areas – it was very interesting to see how much work and attention to detail is put into the Game City.
The variety of games and activities on offer at Game City was also particularly impressive. There really was something for everyone – from retro games to the latest virtual reality experiences.
A big thank you to Tarek Sharif and his team from mice&men for giving our students this unique look behind the scenes. The excursion showed a particularly exciting aspect of the event and congress landscape in Vienna.
