The summer semester of the Bachelor’s degree program in Finance, Accounting and Taxation ended with two expert presentations: Management consultants and auditors Deloitte and Erste Bank der österreichischen Sparkasse gave the Bachelor students an insight into their practical fields of work.
Back in May, Sasha Bakry (Partner in FSI Advisory and Corporate Treasury Advisory at Deloitte Austria) presented the transition of LIBOR, the resulting development of market data and its impact on the valuation of derivatives to students in the ‘Option & Business Valuation’ course in a very practical guest lecture.
In his guest lecture, Mr Bakry explained the composition and trend development of money market interest rates, including EURIBOR, LIBOR and SOFR, an average interest rate published by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York for collateralized loans issued in US dollars (USD) with a term of one day (overnight).
From strategy to implementation
This was the topic of the guest lecture by Matthäus Nahajowski. As head of the ‘Strategy and Investments’ department at Erste Bank, Mr Nahajowski not only offered the students interesting insights into the strategic orientation of the company, but also practical examples of the implementation of M&A processes. The presentation in the course ‘Capital Markets’ illustrated how Erste Bank pursues its strategic goals and effectively implements M&A processes.
A big thank you to Mr Nahajowski and Mr Bakry for their valuable insights!
