The Bachelor students of the Management – Entrepreneurship Study Program asked themselves this question in their cooperation with Austrian Standards. At the end of the summer semester, they presented their results on “AI standards and certifications”.
As part of the project, extensive market research, qualitative interviews with industry experts and a quantitative survey were conducted. Supported by the members of Austria Standards Veronika Hofer and Birgit Unger, the students dived deep into the subject matter. In particular, the challenges and concerns regarding the safety, transparency and ethical design of AI systems were highlighted. One result of the survey is that standards in the field of AI are seen as important and could play a major role in the competitiveness of companies in the future.
The clients were very pleased with the results, as they provided a good first insight into the use of AI tools in companies. The project also showed how important (inter)national cooperation and uniform guidelines are for the joint further development of AI technologies.
