As part of the course ‘Interdisciplinary Case Studies’, Julian Hagelkrueys, Stephanie Maukner and Valerie Grabner from the company Vialto Partners Austria Steuerberatungs GmbH presented an extremely interesting case study on the topic of ‘Global Mobility’ or cross-border relocation of employees.
Vialto Partners is a tax consulting firm specializing in cross-border tax consulting in the field of international payroll accounting, particularly in the areas of immigration, business travel and compensation, and is therefore a perfect fit for the very internationally oriented Bachelor’s program in Finance, Accounting & Taxation.
Tax issues for international assignments
During the event, the speakers first presented the process of global mobility consulting at Vialto Partners and went into detail regarding tax advice before, during and after the secondment of company employees abroad. The students were given a brief overview of the treatment of personal and material tax liability for foreign income and the application of double taxation agreements.
The students then worked in five groups on case studies on selected examples of international payroll accounting. They were supported by international experts from Vialto Partners, who were connected live via video during the course. A very special setting! The students presented their results, which was followed by an exciting technical explanation and discussion with a strong international focus.
