Students of the 6th semester of our Bachelor’s program in Tourism & Hospitality Management followed the traces of Viennese passenger transportation.
Togehter with Austria Guide Barbara Wolflingseder the students immersed themselves in the history of passenger transportation as part of their elective “Tourism Mobility Management”.
On their walk through the city, our students learned exciting details about the oldest means of transportation for hire, the rental sedan chair and the carrying chair, whose operators – city-famous originals – used to greet their customers with “Tråg’ ma Euer Gnåden” and about new means of transportation such as “Fiaker”(famous Viennese horse carriages) and “Zeiselwagen” (ladder truck used for commercial excursions in the old Vienna), where the greeting then changed to “Fåhr’ ma Euer Gnåden”.
In addition to exciting historical insights, Barbara Wolflingseder also offered an overview of the versatile work as a tourist guide.
