The edcom meeting in December with Leyla Tavernaro-Haidarian as representative of FHWien der WKW was all about promoting international exchange through cross-university projects.
The members of the edcom-network met again this year in Brussels for their biannual exchange. FHWien der WKW was represented by Leyla Tavernaro-Haidarian. She is International Course Manager in the Department of Communication and is jointly responsible for internationalization.
The meeting was all about collaboration between the members of the network. There were keynote presentations, speed networking rounds and breakout sessions focusing on the network’s key areas, such as short-term mobility, teaching, research and cooperation with the private sector.
One highlight was the cooperation between FHWien der WKW and the University of Georgia in Tbilisi, which was established through edcom. This year, Master’s students from both institutions are taking part in an international competition, the AdVenture Competition. As the first cross-university participation in this competition, the collaboration is being supervised by Leyla Tavernaro-Haidarian and her colleagues at the University of Georgia. The client of this Europe-wide business field project is the British tea brand Taylors of Harrogate, for which the task is to conduct market research and develop creative concepts in both Georgia and Austria.
“This cooperation promotes our strategic internationalization goals and fits into the framework of the FHWien der WKW project, Edu-Inno-Coop, which is funded by the MA23 and supervised by our Center for International Education & Mobility (CIEM),” comments Leyla Tavernaro-Haidarian.
The aim is to provide part-time Master’s students, for whom a semester abroad is difficult to manage, with international experience in the form of short-term mobility formats.
