May 28, 2018

At the fourth and last lecture of the lecture series “Current Issues of Management” in this semester we had two innovative minds from the financial world as our guests: Georg Hauer from N26 and Andreas Kern from wikifolio.

In the lecture series “Current Issues of Management”, which takes place in the 6th semester of the Bachelor’s program “Unternehmensführung – Entrepreneurship”, business topics are expanded upon and looked at from a practical perspective. Therefore, different representatives from well-known companies are invited to each session to speak on a topic.

The starting keynote about the topic “How to build a European bank” was given by Georg Hauer, general manager in Austria of the online-bank N26. The online bank N26 is totally branch-free and has brought banking directly to the smartphone and therewith revolutionized the banking industry landscape. In his speech, he outlined the necessary changes in the banking world and the importance of customer experience focus, as clients prefer easy and uncomplicated solutions. Georg Hauer reminded the students that a company should rather focus on the own key competences instead of trying to cover everything. The secret is the effective collaboration with others.

The second keynote came from Andreas Kern, founder of wikifolio. Wikifolio combines financial investment with the principles of social media. It is an independent market place, where talents and experts of the capital market are able to publicly share their trading ideas. In his exciting and entertaining speech, Andreas Kern gave insights in his experiences while founding the company and shared some of his most important lessons with the students.

At the end of the lecture, the guests were also available for the student’s questions as well as networking.
