David Bourdin from the Department of Communication gave a guest lecture at Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic.
David Bourdin, MSc (Teaching & Research Associate at the Competence Center for Marketing) represented the Department of Communication at the International Week (October 14 to 18, 2019) of Mendel University in Brno.
The university, founded in 1919, counts 9,700 students and has been a partner institution of FHWien der WKW for many years. For the International Week, 55 guest lecturers from various countries and with different academic backgrounds were invited to inspire the local students. Not only did the guest lecturers give lectures to students, but they also participated in workshops and went on a field trip to the city of Lednice, where the Czech university operates a second campus.
David Bourdin provided the students with interesting insights into the results of an empirical study on cross-cultural consumer behavior. He illustrated his statements with practical examples in order to make the proposed theories and models easier to grasp for students. The study, which Mr. Bourdin’s lecture was based on, was conducted as part of a research paper that he co-authored with Prof. Dr. Attila Yaprak (Head of PhD Program Business Administration at Wayne State University, Michigan) and Dr. Georgios Halkias (Associate Professor at the University of Vienna).
The participation of David Bourdin at the International Week in Brno gave him the opportunity to exchange and discuss ideas with lecturers from universities around the globe, to share his expertise with Czech students in an interactive lecture and to strengthen the partnership between FHWien der WKW and Mendel University in Brno. This, in turn, showcases the international orientation of FHWien der WKW and significantly contributes to the execution of the institution’s internationalization strategy.
