Our dual Bachelor’s students in Tourism & Hospitality Management have been in their practical training for five months now and are already taking on a lot of responsibility. In weekly reports, they share their initial experiences and what responsibilities they have already been given.
The first cohort of the dual Bachelor’s program in Tourism & Hospitality Management at FHWien der WKW started in September 2023. The special feature: during their three-year Bachelor of Arts program, students spend 50 % of their second and third years of study in top tourism companies. Our partners benefit immediately and play an active role in the professional training. Hotels, tour operators and many other companies across the industry gain access to academically and professionally well-trained employees and can retain them for the entire duration of their studies and beyond. This creates a win-win situation for local tourism.
The first work experience has been completed!
The students’ areas of responsibility were extremely varied and they were able to take on a lot of responsibility during their first practical phase: preparation and participation in international sales meetings, event responsibility with location tours, shift responsibility at reception, processing flight inquiries & fare management, ️restructuring travel processes due to weather damage, project responsibility in marketing, taking over the F&B team lead. These and many other tasks are already part of our students’ day-to-day work.
Numerous top tourism companies such as Austrian Airlines, Hotel Sacher, Columbus Reisebüro, Hotel Imperial Riding School, Vienna Tourist Board, Hilton Hotels Austria and many other partners from the hotel industry, travel management & agency, mobility and event organization are convinced of the dual concept and are looking forward to further dual semesters with their existing students and, from September this year, to new talents for their companies.
