Students in the second semester of the Bachelor’s program in Tourism & Hospitality Management were able to put what they had learned into practice during their “Project Management” course. After planning, research and organization at FHWien der WKW, students went directly into the implementation and to visits of tourist highlights in Burgenland, Tyrol and the Salzkammergut.
At Lake Neusiedl in Podersdorf
Lake Neusiedl is known to many as the “Sea of the Viennese” and offers a wide range of tourist attractions. The excursion began with an informative tour of the St. Martins Therme & Lodge. Then it was off to the Pinetz Winery and Alpaca Farm for some alpaca cuddling and wine tasting. On the second day, the Podersdorf Tourism Office provided insights into its marketing activities and tourism strategy. The excursion was concluded with a visit to the organic Archehof Grube with a cheese & fruit jam tasting.

At Lake Traunsee in Salzkammergut
A second group of students started with a visit to the Eggenberg brewery in Vorchdorf. After a beer tasting, the so called Steckerlfisch in Gmunden tasted particularly good. A walk along the Lake Traunsee and a round of paddle tennis brought the day to a sporty close.
The second day started in Bad Ischl with a guided tour of the thermal baths and hotel at the Eurothermen Resort. In the afternoon the students took the gondola high up to the Grünberg and the tree top walk with a fantastic view over the lake and the Salzkammergut.

At the Hahnenkamm in Kitzbühel
The third group had the longest journey: they went to Kitzbühel in Tyrol. With the field trip’s theme “Sports and Event Tourism”, the students visited the 5-star luxury hotel Stanglwirt with its own Lippizaner breeding, exclusive wellness area and children’s farm.
The next day, they took the cable car up the famous Hahnenkamm, where the students got a glimpse behind the scenes of the Hahnenkamm race. A look down the “Mausefalle” was also not to be missed. In the afternoon, a visit to the Generali Arena, where the annual ATP tournament takes place, was on the agenda.
