Putting what they have learnt into practice straight away – this is what students in the 2nd semester of the Bachelor’s program in Tourism & Hospitality Management were able to do as part of their ‘Applied Project Management’ course. After planning, research and organizing at FHWien der WKW, they went straight into implementation and visited tourist highlights in Styria, Tyrol and neighboring Bratislava.
Slovakia’s culinary highlights
In just one hour in another provincial capital – two groups of students travelled to Bratislava. Here they explored the culinary delights and traditions of our neighboring country in a self-organized program. In addition to beer and wine tasting and traditional Slovakian specialities, a visit to the Street Food Market Festival was also a must. The cultural highlight of one of the two groups was a tour of the historic city center using an interactive city game and a visit to Bratislava Castle. One of the field trips was rounded off with an informative presentation from the Bratislava tourist office. They then travelled back to Vienna on the Twin City Liner.
Flavours of southern Styria
The trip to southern Styria also had a special culinary focus. The program included a visit to the Zotter chocolate factory, a sparkling wine tasting at Kulinarium Riegersburg, cheese specialities from Fromaggerie Riegersburg, the Gölles vinegar factory and a gourmet picnic at Kapfenstein Castle.
Golden Times – Green Future
This was the program for the student excursion to Innsbruck. After a relaxed picnic in the Hofgarten, the group travelled through Innsbruck’s old town to the famous ‘Goldenen Dachl’. On the second day, the student group visited Lake Lansersee, one of the most beautiful swimming lakes in Tyrol. Here, the students visited Daniel Rhomberger’s famous Koi Bar and gained an insight into an innovative catering concept. A visit to the Futterkutter and a joint escape room adventure rounded off the well-organized program.
