Due to the current coronavirus situation, Junior Achievement Austria and FHWien der WKW decided to organize Innoday as an online event on September 23, 2020. The Innoday is part of the “JUNIOR COMPANY” project, in which pupils found real companies. In doing so, they master all phases of setting up a company from brainstorming, planning, production to marketing.

FHWien der WKW supports this project by contributing its expertise in the areas of idea generation, marketing and management. It has developed a special program for Innoday.online 2020.

At the beginning of Innoday.online, Manfred Schieber, Head of Management & Entrepreneurship Study Programs, introduced the topic of “Entrepreneurship” and dealt extensively with the ecological and social responsibility of companies. Afterwards, Bettina Eibler, Competence Center for Leadership & Social Skills, presented various creativity techniques to the students in the idea incubator, which on the one hand led to completely new ideas and on the other hand enriched existing ideas.  Subsequently, the students could choose one of the two 90-minute specialist topic sessions according to their interests: “Marketing & Communication” or “Management“. In the “Marketing & Communication” session, Julia Gumhalter and Birgit Schaller, Competence Center for Marketing, showed how and why advertising works, familiarised the students with the topic of target groups, and presented the Customer Journey concept. In the “Management” session, Markus König from the Financial Management Study Programs taught the students basic principles of financial planning and financing, while Stefan Wrbka from the Department of Management presented important legal principles for companies.

More than 90 pupils from three Viennese schools took part in Innoday.online 2020 in their classes via Zoom. Julia Schlögl, Regional Advisor Vienna of Junior Achievement Austria, took over the coordination between the schools and FHWien der WKW.

Finally, the pupils were given a task assignment: In a five-minute video, they were to present their business idea, which they had been able to develop at Innoday, and also to answer the question about the social and ecological impact of their idea. The first idea videos have already been received and are being viewed by experts at FHWien der WKW. They will then give feedback to the junior companies on how they can further develop their idea.
