Learning through play: Experiencing business management up close

February 25, 2025

The Business Administration Basics & Business Game course for first-semester students in the Bachelor’s program Human Resources Management impressed with its unique concept.

First, Academic Expert & Lecturer Sigrid Maxl-Studler taught the theoretical basics of business administration. This was followed by two days of intensive business games in which students worked in teams to master a business simulation.

With board game character and interactive teamwork, the groups develop strategies, make decisions and learn about management processes. Andrea Hauer from the Competence Center for Business Controlling & Accounting and external lecturer Margit Winter took on the roles of customers, suppliers and investors and rewarded the most successful team with delicious “gold ducats”.

The slightly different setting of the course was met with enthusiasm: some students even arrived 30 minutes early to work on their strategies. This not only makes learning fun but also teaches important practical skills!
