Master’s students pitch for victory in the Ad Venture Competition

January 20, 2025

In the edcom competition, students from the Master’s program in Communication Management are working in international teams to design a new marketing strategy for an English tea brand.

Four students from the Master’s program in Communication Management are taking part in the prestigious Ad Venture competition organized by the European Institute for Commercial Communications Education (edcom). This year’s competition presents an exciting challenge: Students are to develop a new market strategy for the English tea brand Taylors of Harrogate.

What makes this competition special is the international cooperation. The students from Vienna worked closely with a team from the University of Georgia (Tbilisi) to develop creative and innovative concepts for the Georgian and Austrian markets. This international cooperation is the first of its kind and offers the students not only valuable insights into practice, but also a unique opportunity to expand their skills in an international context.

The project promotes the internationalization of the Department of Communication and takes place in cooperation with the Center for International Education and Mobility, which is researching short-term mobility formats as part of a grant by the City of Vienna . It is supervised by Leyla Tavernaro-Haidarian, International Course Manager at FHWien der WKW, and her colleagues in Tbilisi.

“The collaboration with the students from Georgia and the exchange of ideas and perspectives are enormously enriching. We wish our students every success in the final presentation and hope that they can win the competition with an innovative idea.”

Our two international teams are now in the final stages of preparation and are working hard on their final pitch. Finalists from all over Europe will come together in The Hague in April to present their ideas and the winning team will be given a unique opportunity to attend the prestigious Cannes Lions Festival in the South of France, which is considered one of the most important events in the communications industry worldwide.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for our students and wish them every success in the Ad Venture competition and beyond!
