Since the winter semester 2024/25, FHWien der WKW has been offering the new course ‘Interdisciplinary Case Studies’ to students on the Bachelor’s degree program in Finance, Accounting and Taxation in the third semester. The course combines the main subject areas and core topics Tax Consulting, Auditing, Financial Markets & Sustainability and Controlling & Business Analytics from a practical perspective.
The kick-off event on September 27, 2024 was a successful start, with the entire course team welcoming the students and providing an overview of the course format. The didactic introduction to the topic of interdisciplinary case studies was particularly exciting. The students learned what exactly lies behind this concept and why the link between practice and science is so important for today’s professional world.
Study real business
The practical relevance of this course is particularly emphasised. A real highlight are the six co-operation partners of the study area:
- BDO Austria GmbH
- EY – Ernst & Young
- Grant Thornton Austria
- Vialto Partners
- Forvis Mazars Group
- TPA Austria
Over the course of the semester, specialists from these companies present specific problems from their business practice and work on them together with the students. This gives them the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice and develop solutions. The event offers students exciting insights into entrepreneurial practice and promotes dialogue between the various departments. A successful start to a practice-orientated and interdisciplinary education.
