The conference of the prestigious ECREA (European Communication Research and Education Association) with a focus on Journalism took place at the University of Vienna on February 14 and 15, 2019.
About 120 researchers from 25 different countries worldwide participated at the conference, and presented and discussed various perspectives and developments dealing with Journalism.
Core Findings of the longitudinal study „Nachwuchskompass“, gathered during winter terms 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017, were presented by Gisela Reiter, Teaching Research Associate at FHWien der WKW. The online questionnaire handed to Bachelor and Master’s students from Journalism & Media Management contained questions about useful skills for future journalists and the general image of the profession. The name of the presented paper was “Being a good journalist. A long-term study (2011-2018) of Austrian journalism students focusing on changes in their journalistic role (self-) perception and valuation of user-generated content”.
