For the first time, students from the Master’s program in Communication Management at FHWien der WKW travelled to Brussels to engage with the topic of campaigning in multidisciplinary workshops as part of our short-term mobility programs.
Before the upcoming EU elections four students of the Master’s program Communication Management of the FHWien der WKW had the chance to participate in a short-term mobility program on Campaigning in the EU in Brussels. The BIP – Blended Intensive Program was funded by Erasmus+ and started with an online lecture on media coverage in the participation countries und ended with an immersive week in Brussels. Students had the opportunity to deep dive into political campaigning, how EU institutions communicate engaging content and develop creative communication campaigns.
The week has been organised by BBrussels School IHECS Journalism & Communications, co-funded by the European Union and sponsored by Cronos Europa. Participating universities were Panteion University Athens Greece, University of Wroclaw Poland and FHWien der WKW. Our students were accompanied by Simone Zwickl, Academic Expert & Lecturer in strategic communication management.
Participants from various countries had the opportunity to visit the European Commission and take part in the daily press briefing, the Council of the EU and learn about their media strategy. The EU Communication Agency Cronos Europa gave insights on strategies of political campaigning. One of the highlights were the pitches of the presentations developed by student teams introducing ideas on how to reach generation Z and inform them on EU matters.
FHWien der WKW’s short-term mobility programs offer Master’s students the opportunity to gain valuable experience abroad, even if a full semester abroad is not possible for professional reasons.
