The young city radio station is focusing on digital terrestrial radio with a new music program and is broadcasting via DAB+ in Vienna, parts of Lower Austria and Burgenland.
Radio NJOY scores with high-quality radio shows, who have already been broadcasted in parts of Vienna under the frequency 91.3fm. Since May 1, 2020, the radio station of FHWien der WKW has now also been broadcasting its program via the digital terrestrial radio standard DAB+. “After completing the reconstruction of the radio studios in summer 2019, joining DAB+ was the next logical step for us. Practice-relevant elements are key in the education of our students. By securing the license for broadcasting via DAB+, we are able to further expand our radio and audio activities”, says Michael Heritsch, MSc, CEO of FHWien der WKW.
NJOY will thus become part of the growing DAB+ family and will be able to broadcast shows made by students during their studies or beyond on a voluntary basis and make them available to a large audience. Students are encouraged to create their own shows and bring them on air. The editorial team also plays its part and continuously produces high-quality programs on topics such as science, business, culture and music. Only recently, editor Anna Muhr received the Austrian Adult Education Radio Prize for her work.
The editorial team also offers students of the Journalism & Media Management study programs with little or no previous experience the opportunity to get to know the radio and audio sector and actively participate in shaping the station. Diversity of opinion and topics as well as quality are key factors in NJOY’s program.
New music program with a focus on Austrian musicians
The advertising-free music program under the slogan “Alternative Hits” offers many new music titles, but also a varied spectrum of well-known titles. Radio NJOY 91.3 pays special attention to Austrian artists, who present themselves and their music in various shows. Their music gets also included in NJOY’s music program – real variety in every respect that lives up to the claim “nur wir sind so”.
The broadcasts of Radio NJOY 91.3 are also available online
Radio shows made by students of FHWien der WKW, but also by the editorial team, can be found on the website of Radio NJOY at wien.njoyradio.at as well as on platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, SoundCloud and Podcast.de.
