The Institute for Business Ethics and Sustainable Strategy (IBES) regularly organizes internal research colloquia to promote and strengthen scientific discourse at FHWien der WKW. Current research work by scientists at FHWien der WKW and other research institutions is presented. Original journal articles, book and conference papers, etc. are presented and discussed regardless of their stage. Constructive feedback is the main focus. The Research Colloquium is advertised internally at FHWien der WKW and is specifically aimed at researchers and staff interested in current topics in the fields of “Management” and “Business Ethics” as well as their neighboring areas.

On April 13, 2021, Anna Burton presented her current research on the topic: Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Tourism in Austria. In a research project commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Finance and supported by the Austrian Hoteliers Association, a sub-project on “Growth, Prosperity, Sound Finances and the Corona Crisis” will be presented at the research colloquium. Based on the development of overnight stays in the summer months of 2020, the project analyzes which geographical conditions, location-specific qualities and other factors on the supply and demand side contributed to the success of tourism regions and contributed to their resilience to the crisis. The empirical investigation is based, on the one hand, on a descriptive-statistical analysis of these data and, on the other hand, on a regression analysis in order to identify systematic differences between the regions. The marketing-specific orientation of a tourism region is currently still an outstanding level of analysis. The project, including analysis results and forecasts for future tourism development, will be handed over to the client at the end of April.

Anna Burton, MSc is Research Associate at IBES and PhD candidate at MODUL University Vienna.
