Marketing & Sales alumna Martina Schachenhuber told us about her path to self-employment.
“I don’t feel like when I start work on Monday I’m already looking forward to the weekend. That is one of the most beautiful achievements I have made.”
At the Alumni Talk on 26 August, illustrator Martina Schachenhuber gave special insights into her career path and shared her experiences on the road to self-employment. The founder encountered one question again and again: Why does one decide against a promising career in an international corporation and opt for a life as an independent artist? In addition to her personal motivations, Schachenhuber also told of the challenges she has overcome along the way.
The participants were given tips on what to look out for, what to think through well in advance and what is important when setting up a business.
From manager to (life) artist – in retrospect, did Martina Schachenhuber study the wrong thing? No, definitely not, she says. She not only gained economic know-how during her studies, but also uses the skills she learned especially for self-marketing, which is particularly important as a self-employed person.
Finally, the guests exchanged their own experiences and were even allowed to take an exclusive look at the illustrator’s new picture book, which will be published in September.
