Roadmap to AKH`s CO2 Balance Sheet

July 8, 2024

AKH meets FHWien der WKW: Bachelor students from the Management – Entrepreneurship study program helped creating a roadmap for the AKH Wien to develop their CO2 balance sheet.

The University Hospital AKH Wien is the largest hospital in Austria and is one of the 25 best hospitals in the world. With its 9,000 employees, it provides top medical services. However, the healthcare sector also makes a significant contribution to greenhouse gas emissions and therefore to climate change.

In this project cooperation with the AKH, students spezialising in “Strategic Management” supported the environmental management team at the hospital with the challenges of drawing up a CO2 balance sheet and developed an implementation roadmap.

From strategy into practice

What steps need to be taken? What could a new department look like and how could it be set up? Which procedures and processes need to be considered? What tools are already available on the market for preparing CO2 balance sheets? These and similar questions have been dealt with intensively over the last few months.

At the final presentation, the student teams presented their diverse and creative measures to the client and head of the environmental management team Roland Epler.
