Cornelia Dlabaja, Endowed Chair for Sustainable Urban and Tourism Development, gave interviews to ORF and Puls 4 on the current development of mass tourism.
In ORF’s “Aktuell nach 1” program, the tourism researcher from FHWien der WKW talks about why mass tourism has become a problem, among other things. Puls 4 also posed the question: What is too much mass tourism?
Among other things, the endowed professor describes how residents can no longer afford to live in touristic regions. With its visitor economy strategy, Vienna is considered a best-practice example in Europe, if not the world, of how a region can cope with mass tourism. The strategy states that tourism must be sustainable and benefit residents.
As WKW Endowed Chair for Sustainable Urban and Tourism Development, Cornelia Dlabaja works on socially relevant issues for location development based on the challenges of sustainable tourism and urban development. You can find more information about the endowed chair here.
