The third Sustainability Day at FHWien der WKW took place on January 25, 2024. Numerous students, lecturers and employees took the opportunity to learn more about the topics of green jobs, sustainability communication vs. greenwashing, climate journalism and sustainability trends in tourism.
Exciting student projects
In the Audimax at FHWien der WKW, students from the Management & Entrepreneurship Study Programs presented their course projects on the topic of “sustainability”. In addition, companies cooperating with the study programs, including Deloitte Austria, RISE, Sustainista, CPM Group, Oberbank, Bootch Kombucha, BDO Austria and Wiener Netze, presented what they are doing in terms of sustainability at small exhibition stands in the foyer.
Our Communication Management Study Programs students dealt with the exciting topic of “sustainability communication vs. greenwashing” and presented their posters in teams. An interesting workshop on “climate journalism” with Katharina Kropshofer was organized by the Journalism & Media Management Study Programs.
Our Tourism & Hospitality Management Study Programs students presented the sustainability trends in tourism that are affecting us and the economy (e. g. Digital Detox & Nature Retreats, Slow Travel, Food Waste, Farm Tourism, Plant-Based Diet and much more) and the potential green jobs that await our graduates at various market booths as part of an impressive ideas market.
Our graduates and their green jobs
Heidrun Kopp, ESG & Sustainable Finance, opened the session with our graduates with an exciting input on the topic of “ESG and Green Jobs”. She emphasized the importance of training and further education in the areas of sustainability, ESG and sustainable finance in order to achieve the green transition. Our graduates
- Johanna Steinkellner, Sustainability Consultant denkstatt Österreich,
- Christoph Wolfsegger, Senior Manager Energy, Climate and Environment REWE Group, and
- Florian Egger, Team Lead Commercial Sustainability ClimatePartner Austria,
gave exciting insights into their green jobs. They spoke to presenter Caroline Schranz from Radio Radieschen 91.3 about their current job, how the study program got them to where they are today and which skills are needed in green jobs.
