Leyla Tavernaro-Haidarian, an expert in sustainable communication at FHWien der WKW, discussed a deliberative approach to sustainability communication with international colleagues in a workshop at Oxford University.
Our sustainability communication expert Leyla Tavernaro-Haidarian received an exciting invitation to take part in a two-day expert workshop at Oxford University as a result of past research contributions. The organizers were interested in a deliberative approach to ethical questions, especially in communication approaches and research methodologies that bring together different values and perspectives.
Academics and practitioners from the United States, Singapore, China, Australia, and the United Kingdom shared their experiences with deliberative communication in the areas of sustainability, conservation, bioethics, CSR, and more.
The focus of our lecturer, representing FHWien der WKW, was the use of integrative communication approaches for stakeholder collaboration at an organizational level. In her contribution, she shed light on the question of how sustainability can be managed systemically and how companies’ sustainability strategies can be managed in a more targeted manner, in particular through a higher degree of stakeholder integration.
The results of the exchange are currently being summarized in an agenda-setting paper and will also benefit our new sustainability module “Better Communication for a Better World” in the Bachelor’s program in Corporate Communication (elective from summer semester 2025) and the Institute for Business Ethics and Sustainable Strategy (IBES) at FHWien der WKW. Leyla Tavernaro-Haidarian and her international colleagues are also planning further networking meetings.
