In the summer semester of 2018, our students worked on exciting issues of the business world, supported by our Competence Center for Business Controlling and Accounting.
FHWien der WKW is characterized by a particularly high practical relevance in the field of teaching. Thus students have the opportunity to prove their acquired skills in real projects over several semesters.
As part of the specialization in Controlling of our Bachelor’s degree program “Management & Entrepreneurship“, our students faced exciting and challenging problems of S+B Group, which is a long-standing practice partner of ours.
Last semester, our students had the assignment of creating a template of the Notes for the financial statements of S+B Group, based on IFRS. Highly motivated and with full commitment, our students faced this exciting challenge. The guidance, which was taken over by an expert in the field of IFRS, was also important for the successful execution of this project. Full of enthusiasm, students worked on a proposal and then presented the results. The presentation took place directly in front of our practice partner S+B Group, as it was important for our partner that all his employees of the company received the compiled information, and also once at FHWien der WKW during the course.
This project gave the students the chance to experience one of the core areas of accounting. Making practice more practical than creating the template for the Notes according to IFRS is almost impossible. Both the lecturer and the practice partner S+B Group were extremely impressed with the students’ performance and both the lecturer and partner S+B, are looking forward to a follow-up project in the summer semester 2019.
