The Research Cluster’s fall season was dominated by knowledge transfer: subject-specific lectures, conferences and teaching and training events strengthen the ongoing exchange with our stakeholders and ensure the mutual enrichment of theory and practice.
FHWien der WKW’s Research Cluster is a platform for science, teaching and practice and acts as a contact point for SMEs and family businesses in the areas of Corporate Governance & Business Ethics, Corporate Strategy and Change Management. It forms a network node of various interest groups from science, business practice, politics and civil society organizations. To mutually enrich theory and practice, subject-specific conferences, lectures, teaching and training events have also been organized in recent weeks:
Academic Governance – Lecture
The Research Cluster for SMEs & Family Businesses was pleased to welcome Univ.-Prof. a.D. Dr. Rudi K. F. Bresser on 23 November. In the course of the series of events “Academic Governance” Mr. Bresser gave a lecture followed by a discussion on the topic “Restoring a Taste for Science: Enhancing Strategic Management Knowledge by Changing the Governance of Academic Journals”.
Innovation Day for SMEs
On November 15, entrepreneurs, consultants and researchers gathered at FHWien der WKW to discuss the topic of digitalization and its significance for the ability of small and medium-sized enterprises. Two digitalization experts from MK7 Innovate provided valuable thought-provoking impulses on how SMEs can use and develop digital innovations themselves.
CorporAID Conference 2018 in cooperation with the Research Cluster
The Research Cluster organized the conference CorporAID 2018 in cooperation with ICEP. The event was opened on November 6, by Markus Scholz and Bernhard Weber, the opening panel was moderated by our colleague Anne Busch. Top entrepreneurs discussed the topics of urbanization, sustainable development goals and opportunities for Austrian companies.
Workshop: Anti-corruption methods in the university sector
Together with Transparency International and the Austrian Conference of Universities of Applied Sciences, the Research Cluster organised a workshop on corruption prevention in science at FHWien der WKW on October 30. The aim was to equip the participating decision-makers from Austrian universities and non-university research institutions with tools in order to strengthen the freedom and legitimacy of research.
CGBE Lectures
As part of the CGBE Lectures, each semester a number of internationally leading experts are invited to give lectures on their specific areas of expertise. This lecture series is attended by students, teachers and the wider CSR community and is regularly echoed in the media. CGBE meets Politics
On October 17, 2018, Dr. Margarete Schramböck, Austrian Federal Minister for Digitization and Business Location, gave a keynote lecture on “Limits of politics and the responsibility of companies in the century of digitization, globalization and disruption”.
