Chance brought them together: Sahel Zarinfard and Florian Skrabal met while studying at the FHWien der WKW. What emerged from this acquaintance is now indispensable in the Austrian media landscape – the two founded the research platform DOSSIER in 2012 and since then have been pursuing with their team the goal of keeping a close eye on the powerful and practicing non-profit, factual journalism.
In the Alumni Talk on April 27, the two alumni opened the door to the world of investigative journalism for the participants. Exciting, never boring, but also not always risk-free is the confrontational journalism that the team at DOSSIER does. Zarinfard and Skrabal talked about their day-to-day work and also how they deal with the pressure they are under.
They also provided an insight into the structure of their research platform. For example, how a medium like this is put on a stable financial footing from a start with almost zero initial capital, or how a major search is approached.
From advertisements to money laundering to asylum – it is certain that the topics will not run out quickly. If you would like to explore the many other topics covered by DOSSIER, you will find exciting articles at https://www.dossier.at/.
