Tourism & Hospitality Management student wins Best Meeting Thesis Austria 2024

Anna Katharina Seper came out on top with her Bachelor’s thesis and won the Best Meeting Thesis Award from the Austrian Convention Bureau (ACB).

One of the highlights of the academic year is the presentation of the Austrian Convention Bureau’s Best Meeting Thesis Award. Students from Austrian universities of applied sciences and universities submit their bachelor’s and master’s theses with relevance to the meetings industry. Thanks to the ‘Event & Convention Management’ specialization in the Bachelor’s program Tourism & Hospitality Management, FHWien der WKW was represented several times:

In the ‘Best Bachelor Thesis’ category, alumna Anna Katharina Seper took first place with her bachelor thesis entitled ‘Artificial Intelligence – The Revolution in the Event Industry? An investigation into the use of AI in the event industry from the perspective of congress experts.” In her academic thesis, the FHWien der WKW graduate analyzed the current use, opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence in event management based on qualitative interviews with experts from Austria and Germany.

Alumna Lara Mikl was also nominated for the final. She analyzed the phenomenon of ‘Bleisure Travel – the promising trend using the example of the congress destination Vienna’.

Melanie Poppinger, alumna of the FH St. Pölten , was able to win in the ‘Best Master’s Thesis’ category with her thesis on ‘Congresses and Conferences: Recommendations for action to fulfil the expectations of young participants’ and convinced the expert jury. Melanie Poppinger completed her Bachelor’s degree in Tourism & Hospitality Management at FHWien der WKW before starting her Master’s program.

Following the presentations and awards ceremony at the Hotel Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere, the ACB hosted a ‘themed carousel’ where professionals could network with the researchers.
