Transparency and sustainability in reporting: practical project with Saubermacher AG and KPMG Austria

January 30, 2024

From the initial company analysis to the identification and assessment of criteria and the creation of a reporting form – students of the Bachelor’s program in Finance, Accounting & Taxation have been working intensively on the implementation of the EU Taxonomy Regulation at Saubermacher AG.

KPMG Austria, one of Austria’s most important auditing and consulting firms, advises the waste management company Saubermacher. As part of a practical project, Oliver Wagner and Jürgen Lederer from KPMG Austria commissioned our Bachelor students to draw up a reporting form and prepare qualitative information in accordance with the EU Taxonomy Regulation at Saubermacher AG.

In the course of the project, the 3rd semester students were able to put the skills they had already learnt into practice. Among other things, they analyzed the group structure and identified economic activities based on the six environmental objectives of the EU Taxonomy Regulation. They also assessed technical criteria and transferred these into the calculation of KPIs. Finally, they drew up a reporting form for the necessary qualitative information for non-financial reporting.

Saubermacher AG fulfils its responsibility to investors, customers and its shareholders through this reporting form and the preparation of qualitative information.

Oliver Wagner and Jürgen Lederer from KPMG Austria on the Bachelor’s program in Finance, Accounting & Taxation:

“The combination of teaching and a strong practical focus is unique and offers students an ongoing valuable exchange with lecturers from the field and also ensures that cutting-edge topics are always covered.

Accounting, national and international accounting, taxation and controlling provide an ideally harmonised professional foundation for getting off to a flying start in the world of finance. In addition, great importance is attached to the personal development of the students. We at KPMG are proud to be able to contribute to the development and training of young talents at FHWien der WKW!
