During the 11th Austrian UAS Conference at the FH Wiener Neustadt, the team from the Competence Centre for Business English (CCBE) presented their teaching methods with AI and exchanged ideas with other teachers.
Matthew Urmston and Xiaoming Zhu travelled to Wiener Neustadt together with their colleague Andrew Pullen to exchange ideas with other international English university lecturers under the motto “Common Ground in ESP“. Urmston and Zhu gave a presentation entitled “Writing Side-by-Side with AI“. The presentation focused on exploring innovative ways to integrate AI into writing assignments for college-level students. They also presented their findings on how students collaborated with AI to compare and validate the results of a redesigned writing assignment.
The event not only offered insightful presentations and interactive workshops, but also the opportunity to network with other universities and initiate future collaborations. The CCBE team was excited about potential partnerships that could further advance the integration of AI in academic environments.
We would especially like to thank the FH Wiener Neustadt for hosting this insightful event and providing a platform for discussion on the intersection of technology and education. As the use of AI among students continues to grow, initiatives like this pave the way for a more dynamic and innovative approach to teaching and learning.
