FHWien der WKW Hosts First “Zukunftsdialog Tourismus”

December 19, 2024

On January 16, 2025, students will enter into a dialogue with tourism experts and discuss solutions to the challenges the industry is facing.

Vienna, December 19, 2024 – The tourism of the future requires cooperation, new perspectives and innovative ideas. The first “Zukunftsdialog Tourismus” (“Dialogue on the Future of Tourism”) on January 16, 2025, at FHWien der WKW will focus on precisely this. The event provides a platform for students to act as catalysts and engage in dialogue with representatives of the tourism industry. It is organized by students of the Tourism & Hospitality Management study programs at the Vienna university of applied sciences.

“Our aim is to establish an annual event that brings together tourism professionals and students to shed light on the challenges the industry is facing and discuss possible solutions,” explains Florian Aubke, Head of Tourism & Hospitality Management study program at FHWien der WKW. The participants will exchange ideas in interactive formats. This is intended to promote understanding between the generations as well as for each other’s needs and wishes.

Solutions for sustainable tourism in the digital age

“The ‘Zukunftsdialog Tourismus’ offers us the unique opportunity to focus on the ideas and perspectives of our students. Only through dialogue between the generations can we overcome the challenges facing the industry and jointly develop innovative solutions for sustainable tourism in the digital age,” says Florian Aubke, looking forward to the event’s premiere.

Future skills in tourism

The first edition of “Zukunftsdialog Tourismus” is dedicated to the topic of “Future Skills in Tourism”. The focus is on questions such as:

  • What skills will be needed in tomorrow’s tourism?
  • What skills will an increasingly digitalized and sustainable industry require?
  • And how can we develop these skills today?

The special feature of the event is that students specializing in event and congress design on the Bachelor’s program in Tourism Management are responsible for the entire planning and content design.
