From February 2025, the new part-time Bachelor’s program at FHWien der WKW will provide practical legal, business and technical knowledge for real estate professionals, even without a high school diploma (Matura).
Vienna, October 17, 2024 – FHWien der WKW is expanding its academic continuing education portfolio to include a Bachelor’s program in Real Estate Management, which will be offered annually in the future. The new program is characterized by its accessibility – a high school diploma (Matura) is not required. Graduates will be awarded the academic title of “Bachelor of Arts (Continuing Education)”, or BA (CE) for short, and will also receive credit towards their professional license as real estate trustees (real estate agents, property managers and developers).
High demand for academically trained real estate experts
The target group of the continuing education program are employees and self-employed entrepreneurs in the real estate industry and related fields. “The part-time program offers a holistic, scientifically based education in the renovation, reconstruction, development, management and brokerage of real estate in Austria,” explains Michael Heritsch, CEO of FHWien der WKW, which has been offering study programs in Real Estate Management since 2001. “This interdisciplinary education with a strong practical focus is intended to meet the high demand for academically trained real estate experts.“
The entire range of the real estate industry
The hybrid Bachelor’s program prepares students for specialist and managerial roles in real estate brokerage, property management and property development. “This program is based on legal, economic and technical principles and covers the entire range of the real estate industry,” explains Head of Program Carmen Dilch. “In addition, graduates of this program are familiar with the current digitalization trends in the real estate industry.” They will be able to use AI-based systems in a conscious and responsible way and apply industry-standard software products for real estate agents, property managers and developers in a solution-oriented manner.
The content and sequence of the study modules have been selected in such a way that a systemic overall understanding of real estate management is developed and deepened. The continuing education program promotes interdisciplinary discussion and solution orientation through numerous projects. All modules are taught in German.
Requirements and application procedure
There are three admissions options for this part-time continuing education program:
- Persons who have successfully passed the qualifying examination to become a real estate trustee (limited to real estate agent, real estate manager and/or property developer) and have 2.5 years of relevant professional experience, can enter directly into the 3rd
- Persons with at least 2.5 years of relevant professional experience can enter the 2nd

Good compatibility with work and private life
