In the radio show “Wissenschaftsradio” held on October 29, 2019, five young researchers have each 90 seconds to present their work and to convince science journalist Andreas Jäger.
Vienna, October 4, 2019 – Already for the second time Radio NJOY 91.3, the radio station of FHWien der WKW, invites five young researchers to take part in the pitch challenge at the radio show “Wissenschaftsradio”. The five participants in the pitch challenge broadcasted live on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, come from five Viennese universities:
AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, the Medical University of Vienna (Medizinische Universität Wien), the Technical University Vienna (Technische Universität Wien), the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (Universität für Bodenkultur Wien) and the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna (Veterinärmedizinische Universität Wien).
In this special edition of “Wissenschaftsradio” broadcasted live on Radio NJOY 91.3, each candidate has 90 seconds to convince the juror Andreas Jäger, a science-journalist from Austria who also presents the TV-show “Quantensprung” for ORF III. At the end of the show, he will announce who won the “competition of concepts”.
The winner will participate in the “Science Talk”. This panel discussion is organized by Austria’s Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) and takes place in the Aula der Wissenschaften. Last year’s winner, DI Dr. Michael Traxlmayr, Senior Scientist at BOKU Vienna, was able to redeem his prize on September 23, 2019, and discuss modern cancer research and personalized medicine with Dr. Petra Heffeter and Prof. Dr. Ulrich Jäger on the podium.
“Wissenschaftsradio”, moderated by Michel Mehle and Anna Muhr, will offer young scientists who are not yet in the limelight the opportunity to present and explain their research areas and what significance these have for society.
The candidates:
Robert Kalcik is a junior scientist at AIT Austrian Institute of Technology.
Ingeborg Menzl completes her PhD studies at the Veterinary University Vienna.
Janine Schwestka completed her studies and now works at the Institute of Applied Physics at the the Technical University Vienna.
Angelika Starzer completes her PhD-studies at the Medical University of Vienna
Julia Zeilinger completes her studies and works at the Institute of Waste Management at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna.
