September 25, 2019

Florian Aubke has many years of experience in the development and management of academic education in the tourism sector. He takes over the management of the study programs from Michael Mair.

Vienna, September 25, 2019 – Before joining FHWien der WKW, Dr. Florian Aubke worked at MODUL University Vienna for twelve years. Most recently, the 44-year-old Dean was responsible for the academic affairs of all Bachelor’s programs with around 500 students, 30 faculty members and 50 external lecturers. His tasks included program planning and quality assurance as well as budget planning, teacher selection and pedagogical further education. The native German obtained his doctorate at WU Vienna with the degree “Summa cum laude”.

Management training for the tourism industry since 1994

Florian Aubke has been responsible for the Tourism & Hospitality Management study programs at FHWien der WKW since the beginning of September 2019. He has been training managers for the national and international tourism industry since 1994. Commenting on his new role, Florian Aubke says: “Taking on such established study programs is both an honor and a challenge for me. Major social issues such as digitization, climate change and economic inequalities directly affect tourism. It is our task to recognize these challenges and to address them in the training programs in a fact-based and future-oriented way. In this way, we ensure that our graduates are perceived as pioneers in the industry.”

Florian Aubke’s predecessor, FH-Prof. Mag. Michael Mair, headed the study programs from 1997 to 2019. He remains associated with FHWien der WKW and is now Senior Advisor Academic Teaching at the University of Applied Sciences, which specializes in management and communication.

The Bachelor’s and Master’s programs stand out due to their high degree of practical relevance

The Tourism & Hospitality Management study programs offer the full-time Bachelor’s degree program in Tourism Management and the part-time Master’s degree program in Leadership in Tourism & Hospitality. Both degree programs are characterized by a high degree of practical relevance. In projects for renowned companies, the Bachelor and Master students work on real questions from the tourism industry. Within the framework of semesters abroad and other programs, they can gain international experience which is particularly important for careers in tourism. Numerous graduates of the degree programs hold responsible positions in leading companies in the tourism industry in Austria and other countries.
