Anna Muhr, editor at Radio NJOY 91.3, received an award in the “Culture” category for the program “ArtBeat” about the rap duo EsRaP.
Vienna, January 27, 2020 – For the 22nd time already, the Austrian Radio Prize for Adult Education was awarded in the historically significant RadioKulturhaus. For the culture program “ArtBeat” on Radio NJOY 91.3, Anna Muhr interviewed the rap duo of Turkish origin EsRaP. In the talk show “Auf dem Weg nach Tschuschistan”, she talks to the young sibling couple Esra and Enes Özmen from Ottakring about migrant identity, the Viennese hip hop scene and their role as role models.
Muhr was able to win out over in total 142 submissions, three of which were nominated for the prize in the “Culture” category. The radio play “Märzengrund” by Felix Mitterer and Martin Sailer of the ORF Regional Studio Tyrol also received an award this year.
Radio NJOY 91.3 awarded as the only private broadcaster
Radio NJOY 91.3 is the only private broadcaster to have been able to win in the five categories of the Austrian Radio Prize for Adult Education. The prizes in the categories “Information”, “Education/Science”, “Interactive and Experimental Productions” and “Broadcasting Series” went mostly to ORF and free radio stations in Austria.

The jury had to choose from 18 productions nominated for the award. The nominations were made from 142 submissions – ORF programs and contributions from 13 different private and independent broadcasters. Author Bastian Kresser (Die andere Seite), ORF Radio Director Monika Eigensperger and VHS General Secretary Gerhard Bisovsky presented the award. Anna Muhr received the award from Mag. Pia Lichtblau (Verband Österreichischer Gewerkschaftlicher Bildung) and Dr. Michaela Marterer (Volkswirtschaftliche Gesellschaft Österreich).
