On February 22, Endowed Professor Cornelia Dlabaja will present her research focus and methods at FHWien der WKW.
Vienna, January 25, 2024 – In her lecture entitled “Approaches and Challenges of Sustainable Urban and Tourism Development”, Cornelia Dlabaja will present her research priorities and methods for the next five years on February 22, 2024 at FHWien der WKW. Her focus will be on linking sociological and economic content with the challenges of urban tourism. As part of the Endowed Professorship for Sustainable Urban and Tourism Development, which Dlabaja has held since August 2023 and which is funded by the Vienna Chamber of Commerce (WKW), she will also provide scientific support for the Visitor Economy Strategy of the Vienna Tourist Board. The event marks the start of a series designed to promote dialogue and networking between stakeholders from the fields of research and planning and the tourism industry.

About Cornelia Dlabaja
Dr. Cornelia Dlabaja is a sociologist and holds a doctorate in cultural studies. She has extensive experience in applied and basic research, which she gained as a research assistant at the Institute for Urban and Regional Research at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and in her many years of work at the Institute for European Ethnology at the University of Vienna. In addition, from 2015 she was the operational head of the interdisciplinary research network of the Seestadt Aspern colonization monitoring project. In 2021 and 2019, she was a guest researcher at the UNESCO Chair SSIIM at the IUAV University of Venice, where she researched overtourism and visions for the sustainable development of Venice.
