In society and business, new digital technologies create opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship, but also considerable pressure for change in established organizations. To successfully shape the necessary change processes, research at FHWien der WKW takes an interdisciplinary approach to the opportunities and challenges from different perspectives (technology, management, organization).

Corporate strategic responses to these changes are examined as well as influences on areas of activity, qualifications and forms of work.

Institute for Digital Transformation and Strategy (IDS)

Founded in 2021, the IDS focuses its research activities on the analysis and solving complex problems in the organization of digital transformation processes.

In doing so, practice-oriented research questions in the following thematic areas are at the centre of activities:

Practice & Teaching

Research at FHWien der WKW emphasizes dialogue with business practice. To achieve this, we actively promote the exchange of ideas and experiences with companies, students, research institutions as well as public and private interest groups. Within the framework of applied research and practical projects, teaching activities and transfer events, we address specific problems in the context of digital technology.

Different research perspectives enable comprehensive approaches to solving the challenges of digital transformation. These focus on the interaction of technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, blockchain and the Internet of Things with specific processes, organizations and business models. The research results are published in the form of practical studies and transfer articles, conference papers and in industry media. The researchers work closely with practitioners and colleagues from national and international universities and research institutes.

To facilitate students’ entry into the FHWien der WKW Master’s programs, the project includes the creation of e-learning courses in the context of research methodology.

Learning Studio for hybrid teams

Development of a “Living Studio” for hybrid teaching

The learning studio will create an infrastructure suitable for hybrid collaboration, which shall be integrated into classes. For this purpose, novel teaching methods will be designed and tested together with students and teachers, who will have the opportunity to use the entire hybrid workspace and equipment for learning purposes.
