In society and business, new digital technologies create opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship, but also considerable pressure for change in established organizations. To successfully shape the necessary change processes, research at FHWien der WKW takes an interdisciplinary approach to the opportunities and challenges from different perspectives (technology, management, organization).

Corporate strategic responses to these changes are examined as well as influences on areas of activity, qualifications and forms of work.

Founded in 2021, the IDS focuses its research activities on the analysis and solving complex problems in the organization of digital transformation processes.

Practice & Teaching

Research at FHWien der WKW emphasizes dialogue with business practice. To achieve this, we actively promote the exchange of ideas and experiences with companies, students, research institutions as well as public and private interest groups. Within the framework of applied research and practical projects, teaching activities and transfer events, we address specific problems in the context of digital technology.

Different research perspectives enable comprehensive approaches to solving the challenges of digital transformation. These focus on the interaction of technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, blockchain and the Internet of Things with specific processes, organizations and business models. The research results are published in the form of practical studies and transfer articles, conference papers and in industry media. The researchers work closely with practitioners and colleagues from national and international universities and research institutes.

SIBORC - Simulation and Optimization of Reusable Container Cycles

The Project examines complex circular systems in logistics to optimize them using artificial intelligence (AI) and digital twins. A Technology Impact Assessment will evaluate the economic, ecological and social impacts.

AI in educational sector of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce

In an increasingly digital world, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education is becoming ever more important. The project ‘AI in educational sector of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce’ investigates the impact of AI on education and how it can be effectively used in teaching.

To optimize this transition, the educational institutions of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce (WKW) are developing scientifically based recommendations to be completed by June 2025.

Development of a “Living Studio” for hybrid teaching

The learning studio will create an infrastructure suitable for hybrid collaboration, which shall be integrated into classes.
