How much does it cost to study at FHWien der WKW?

When do the Open House and the information events take place?

The information events for the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs take place between November and March.

In November there is also the Online Master’s Day, where you can find out everything you need to know about our Master’s programs, and in February the Online Info Day, where you can find general information about our study programs and admissions procedure.

The Open House always takes place in March. In addition to information events in our study areas, you can expect exciting program items such as campus tours, open lectures and much more.

Do I have to provide proof of employment for a part-time study program? How many hours do I have to work?

Part-time study programs give working people the opportunity to combine their career and studies efficiently, as the courses take place in the evenings and sometimes at weekends. Proof of employment is not required.

Is it possible to combine part-time study programs with a job, family/friends and free time?

The part-time programs are career-friendly and give working people the opportunity to combine their career and studies efficiently. Courses take place in the evenings and sometimes at weekends. You can find the exact course times on the website of the respective Bachelor’s or Master’s program.

Do I have to spend a semester abroad?

A semester abroad is compulsory for full-time students. If you are studying part-time, the semester abroad is optional.

The semester abroad is a unique opportunity to make new friends, immerse yourself in foreign cultures, improve your foreign language skills and make unforgettable memories. We work with over 150 partner universities worldwide.

When does the semester start and when are the vacations?

The semester starts at the beginning of September (in some courses also at the beginning of October). You can find the vacations for the current academic year here.

In which language are the lectures held?

The majority of Bachelor’s and Master’s programs are taught in German. Occasionally, modules are taught in English. If your native language is not German, you do not need to present a language certificate.

We offer three study programs that are taught entirely in English:

Can you recommend (student) accommodation in Vienna?

FHWien der WKW does not offer students any support in finding accommodation. There are several student residences in Vienna as well as the possibility of living in shared flats or private accommodation.

Is there a cheap public transport ticket for students?

There are various discounts and semester tickets for students with Wiener Linien, Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB) and Westbahn.

Application & Admissions Procedure

I am interested in a Bachelor's or Master's program. When can I apply?

The application period is from around the beginning of January to the end of March. You will find the exact deadlines and dates here in good time.

How many study programs can I apply for?

You can apply for a maximum of two Bachelor’s programs and two Master’s programs.

Please note: If you are applying for two study programs, you must upload your documents for each application.

If I apply for the full-time version and the part-time version of a study program, does this count as two applications?

Yes, if you apply, for example, for the Bachelor’s program in Finance, Accounting & Taxation (full-time) and for the Bachelor’s program in Finance, Accounting & Taxation (part-time), this counts as two applications.

What are my chances of being accepted? How many applicants are there per study program each year?

We cannot give you exact figures. But if you apply for a Bachelor’s or Master’s program that you are really passionate about and you also prepare well for the admissions procedure, nothing will stand in the way of your dream study program.

What admission requirements do I need to fulfill?

How does the admission procedure work?

The admission procedure at FHWien der WKW consists of the application in the online application tool, the computer-based admissions test and the program-specific admissions procedure. You can find a step-by-step guide to the application process here:

Which application documents do I have to submit?

You can find out which application documents you need to upload in the online application tool in the checklist for Bachelor’s programs and in the checklist for Master’s programs.

How can I prepare for the computer-based admissions test?

The computer-based admissions test for Bachelor’s programs (see point 4) covers the following areas:

  • Mathematical-numerical understanding
  • Logical and deductive reasoning
  • Verbal comprehension
  • English language skills

The computer-based admissions test for Master’s programs (see point 4) consists of

  • 30 business management questions and, depending on the degree program
  • up to 35 program-specific questions in multiple-choice form.

On our website you will find important information on the admission test procedure (technical requirements, supervision, identity check, etc.) as well as sample questions and literature tips on the Bachelor’s and Master’s admissions test.

Please note: These sample questions are only intended to give you a general impression of the tasks you may face. This does not mean that you can expect exactly these types of questions in the admission test.

Are aids permitted for the computer-based admissions test?

Calculators or other electronic aids are not permitted for Bachelor’s programs! For the Master’s programs, a calculator is permitted for the Master’s program in Financial Management & Controlling. Other electronic aids are not permitted!

How can I prepare for the program-specific admissions procedure?

The next step after the computer-based admissions test is the degree program-specific admissions procedure. This can vary from study program to study program (interview, assessment center, etc.).

You should therefore find out about this final step in the admissions procedure (see points 5 and 4) and how you can prepare yourself in good time on the relevant degree program page:
